I worked with Shashika on the second Series of THE GOOD KARMA HOSPITAL last year. She was an outstanding script supervisor who instinctively understood the demands of the role. She was attentive to the continuity demands of the shoot as well as the importance of good coverage in storytelling. She was invaluable in helping us get all the shots we needed and working with the actors to ensure that the edit was a smooth process in terms of consistency from take to take. She was very thorough and meticulous but also sensitive in how and when she chose to raise her concerns. I wouldn't hesitate to work with her again and believe her to be a huge asset to any production.

I was a director on ITV's GOOD KARMA HOSPITAL series 3, working in Sri Lanka during summer 2018. This production involves a large cast of UK, Indian and Sri Lankan actors, and a complex and evolving script which requires a lot of organisation, on-set and around the edge of shooting hours. In this I was vitally aided by my script supervisors - Caroline and Shashi. Shashi was presented to me as a trainee: but in truth she is a fully trained and independent supervisor, and frequently ran the whole continuity and script supervision with confidence and flair for the entire production. The excellence of the script supervision was further witnessed in the edit afterwards, where we relied on her library of script and camera notes. I have no hesitation in recommending her to other productions, and wish her every success in her further career.

I was the B camera Operator and 2nd Unit DP on the second series of The Good Karma Hospital last year. Shashika was the assistant Script Supervisor. Whenever we left the main unit to shoot as a second unit Shashika became the 2nd Unit Script Supervisor. She was outstanding. It is a very difficult job to learn and perform but she managed to master it very quickly and soon proved herself to be an invaluable asset. The role of the Script Supervisor is one of the most important on set. There are many aspects to it, from ensuring continuity between shots to being the director’s sounding board. The Script Supervisor is vital when planning and blocking a scene as she will know what shots are needed to cut the scene together. It is a role that is often overlooked, but always missed if not filled.

Shashika proved to be invaluable to me on the shoot on 'The Good Karma Hospital' series II – a mainstream fully networked British Television multi episodic drama shot over 4 months in 2017 in Sri Lanka. She had worked in the production office on series 1 the year before and was then promoted to be my trainee on series II - and her knowledge of the production proved to be priceless. Having myself worked all around the world as a respected renowned Script Supervisor on mainly European and American/Canadian productions we are recognised as a head of a department and an essential member of the crew. Producers and Directors personally select us to work closely alongside them in preproduction, the shoot and post- production as our knowledge and skills as a Script Supervisor is totally valued, unique and an asset and integral part of any shoot. Shashika is a very bright girl, willing to learn, very approachable, a great team player and liked by crew and cast, so after a while I had no problem in leaving her on set by herself for certain scenes. She adapted to the way I worked very quickly and was keen to learn all the technicalities of shooting a scene from different angles, crossing the line etc. We shot daily on two cameras and sometimes a third camera would be brought onto main unit.... and then would go off on 'splinter' unit so Shashika would cover that as well. I was very happy to let her cover 2nd unit independently of me (which started to happen more and more towards the end of the shoot) with cross referencing notes , photographs etc and feedback to me and the production office daily. The editor and the production relied heavily on our notes that Shashika mastered and completed without a problem. I cannot recommend Shashika highly enough for her work ethic and a valuable addition to any crew not to mention having an ally on set for the director and the actors and being the eyes and ears for the production office and editorial. I am continually being requested to work with directors and producers time and again as they realise how invaluable a good script supervisor is to any production, which can in the long run save a production money and time in making sure everything will cut together. -2- You can find me on IMDB and see that I have worked with a variety of productions, producers and directors including Stephen Speilberg, Tom Hanks and Stephen Soderberg and I have worked in the industry for the past 30 years and continue to do so. Shashika has the potential to do the same given the right opportunities. Currently she is based in Sri Lanka which doesn’t currently have script supervisors as a vital member of the crew – hopefully this is something that will change and once Shashika has been on board as a script supervisor she will more than prove her worth on any production. Please feel free to contact me should you require a further reference and would add that Shashika would prove to be invaluable on any production after the experience she gained over 4months working as a trainee with me on a British mainstream fully networked television drama

I am an ex-BBC now freelance Script Supervisor working in film and television drama. I am very happy to provide a reference for Shashika and very much hope you will consider her for a place. She acted as my assistant during the filming of the UK Drama Series ‘Good Karma Hospital’ which was arranged by the Producer Trevor Ingman. We worked closely together for 4 months and her work was excellent. Shashika’s title was ‘Assistant Script Supervisor’ although she did much more than expected and exceeded the requirements of the role by a long way.She was forward planning, timing scripts, taking lens and camera set up details and responsible for background continuity. Working closely with myself and the Director Shashika showed that she was a proactive and resourceful film maker and was interested in all aspects of production.I know she has also been working on her own projects including writing and directing short films and working as an AD so as well as having technical knowledge she is also interested and active as a creative filmmaker. On a personal level she is charming and good humoured. Hard working and self-motivated. In short a pleasure to work with and I am sure she will be a great asset to your course and be well-placed to get the most out of further education in this field. If you wish to call or email me for any further comments please do so.
